We’re excited to bring the virtuosic Montreal Guitar Trio to town for a heart-warming winter show. Montreal Guitar Trio has curated a program celebrating Christmas in their own unique way, from The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky), to The Nightmare Before Christmas (Danny Elfman), to A Charlie Brown Christmas (Vince Guaraldi), and more!

“[…]  they delivered loads of infectious good humour and some solid ensemble playing that skirted the four corners of the musical world.”

— Bill Rankin, The Edmonton Journal

The Montreal Guitar Trio (MG3) surprises, amazes, exalts, and ignites audiences with their dynamic and breathtaking stage presence. This passionate trio has been sharing their work with fervor for over 25 years. In addition to their three guitars, these multi-instrumentalists also sing and play the violin, mandolin, bass, accordion and more.

Their music ranges from Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Rossini, and Falla to Metheny, Haden, Tormé, Guaraldi, and even Piazzolla, De Lucia, Gismonti, Radiohead, the Beatles, Rush and Bowie. They also perform music closer to home, such as Jorane, Dompierre, and Lhasa de Sela, as well as their own original compositions. However, above all, they pay tribute to the great Ennio Morricone, every time and always.

MGT’s performances have taken them all over the world, from Alaska to Korea, Romania to New Zealand, as well as Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Tallinn, Brisbane, Christchurch, and many more.

Consisting of guitarists Sébastien Deshaies, Glenn Lévesque, and Marc Morin, the MG3 continues to perform hundreds of concerts in the most renowned concert halls in America and around the world, including the legendary Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the BB King Blues Club in New York and the Smith Center in Las Vegas.

You can check MGT out on their YouTube channel.

The Montreal Trio’s guitars know no limits. They journey along with brio from jazz to classical music, from India to Canada. The Ussac Church has been swept away on the thunder of their strings!

If there has ever been a more rapturous reception to a set than the one which greeted the Montreal Guitar Trio’s first number, their take on El Paso, then I have not witnessed it. They created an instant, electrifying atmosphere which the band sustained throughout the evening, building again and again on the energy of the audience. There were whoops, whistles and a thundering applause which did not seem to lessen in intensity as the repertoire progressed. Indeed, not many performers can cause members of the audience to stand up to applause the first number.
